Video Summary
This study examined the outcomes of partial repair in 38 patients with massive rotator cuff tears (>30 cm²). Over an average four-year follow-up, only 5% required revision surgery, while 87% needed no further treatment. Tear sizes were objectively measured before and after surgery. Findings showed no correlation between residual tear size and the need for revision surgery, though larger residual defects were associated with additional non-operative treatments. The results suggest partial repair effectively preserves joint function in massive tears, offering a durable option that maintains possibilities for future salvage surgery. The study was limited by its retrospective design but had consistent surgical techniques.
