Video Summary
This study assesses the risk of popliteal neurovascular injury during all-inside suturing of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus. Using axial MRI simulations in 60 patients, researchers measured distances from various arthroscopic portal trajectories to the neurovascular bundle. Findings showed young and female patients have shorter distances, increasing injury risk. Suturing at 0 mm from the PCL is safer via the lateral portal, while beyond 3 mm, the medial portal is safer. Preoperative MRI can guide portal selection to minimize neurovascular damage during meniscal repair, preventing severe complications like bleeding or amputation.
