Video Summary
This seven-year follow-up study compares outcomes of labral refixation versus debridement in patients with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). Initially, no significant differences were seen, but at 19 months and onwards, labral refixation showed significantly better patient outcomes, including improved Modified Harris Hip, SF-12, and VAS scores. The refixation group had higher good-to-excellent result rates (86.3% vs. 47.7%) and lower failure rates (13.7% vs. 29.6%). Though outcomes declined over time for both, the disparity favoring labral preservation increased. The study suggests labral repair provides better long-term joint preservation than debridement.
