Video Summary
This randomized controlled trial compared platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and hyaluronic acid (HA) injections for early hip osteoarthritis. Thirty patients received three weekly injections of either PRP or HA. Results showed that significantly fewer PRP patients required hip replacement surgery compared to HA patients (11% vs. 50%). The PRP group experienced significant improvements in joint function, WOMAC scores, and hip internal rotation over six months, while the HA group showed no significant improvements and even decline in range of motion. The study concludes PRP may be more effective than HA for early hip OA, warranting further research on HA efficacy.
