Pdf Summary
This modular workstation is designed to help novice orthopedic surgeons practice fundamental arthroscopic skills through a structured, hands-on session. Each module introduces a specific skill via video, followed by timed practice tasks focusing on tool handling and visualization techniques.

Task 1 focuses on visualization and triangulation skills. Participants practice manipulating the arthroscope camera to maintain horizon control and deliberate linear motion using both hands, completing sequences within specified time limits. They work on image centering through telescoping and periscoping maneuvers, and probe triangulation, placing the probe and arthroscope in set portals for accuracy and speed.

Task 2 involves random number probing using clear and opaque domes to advance coordination between camera and probe control. The goal is to probe designated numbers efficiently with minimal errors, alternating hand use for camera control.

Task 3, Horizontal Ring Transfer, requires transferring rings between posts using a grasper and camera in opposite portals. The challenge is to complete transfers without stopping for dropped rings, with an optional "Half Way There" challenge stacking rings to beat record heights.

Task 4 teaches basics of biting—using arthroscopic biters to precisely cut paper menisci while preserving defined boundary lines. This develops cutting skills critical to surgical procedures.

Task 5 is a Maze challenge where the probe maneuvers a ball bearing through a maze under camera guidance, with increasing difficulty by altering portal positions.

Practice times for each task range from 10–20 minutes, emphasizing ambidextrous proficiency and deliberate, error-free performance within set times. Participants clean and prepare workstations after sessions, fostering a comprehensive simulated environment to build foundational arthroscopic dexterity and confidence.
