Pdf Summary
The AANA/ISAKOS Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopy Course will be held April 5-6, 2024, at the Miami Anatomical Research Center in Doral, FL. This hands-on cadaver lab course is designed to enhance surgical skills in knee and shoulder arthroscopy through focused lab sessions, panel discussions, and pre-recorded lectures.

On Friday, April 5, the course focuses on knee arthroscopy. Morning lab sessions (8:00am-11:00am) emphasize meniscus and ligament repairs including all-inside, inside-out, outside-in techniques, root repair, and transplantation. Following a brief industry demonstration, lunch features panel discussions with case presentations. Afternoon sessions (12:45pm-5:00pm) cover quad tendon harvest, posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), anterolateral ligament (ALL) and/or lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET), medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction (MPFLR), and anterior tibial tubercle (ATT) osteotomy procedures.

Saturday, April 6 concentrates on shoulder arthroscopy. Morning labs (8:00am-11:00am) focus on anterior and posterior Bankart repairs, remplissage, and Latarjet procedures. After another industry demonstration and panel lunch (11:00am-12:30pm), afternoon sessions (12:45pm-5:00pm) include rotator cuff repair, biceps tenodesis, superior capsule reconstruction (SCR), and acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) reconstruction.

Complementing the lab work, extensive pre-recorded lectures cover current surgical concepts in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, including advanced techniques, complication management, and emerging treatments. Topics include ACL repair controversies, cartilage defect management, orthobiologics, and various surgical fixation methods. A dedicated Spanish lecture series provides step-by-step surgical demonstrations on techniques such as subscapular suture repair, biceps tenodesis, and ligament reconstructions.

This comprehensive course combines practical anatomical experience, expert panel discussions, and multimedia educational content to refine arthroscopic surgical skills in both knee and shoulder domains for orthopedic surgeons and trainees.
