Video Summary
This presentation discusses a 50-55-year-old female with a two-year history of an atraumatic massive rotator cuff tear, causing pseudoparalysis and severe right shoulder pain unrelieved by conservative treatments, including steroid injections and physical therapy. Physical exam shows limited active forward flexion, muscle atrophy, and weakness particularly in the infraspinatus, with preserved passive motion. MRI reveals significant retraction and atrophy of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus. Treatment options will be reviewed: Dr. John Kelly will discuss repair, Dr. Taru Mihata will cover superior capsule reconstruction (SCR), and Dr. Basam El-Hassan will present the lower trapezius transfer.
