Video Summary
Dr. Ben Wachuku discusses intraarticular hip injections focusing on steroids, hyaluronic acid (HA), platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC). Preoperative steroid injections in femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) surgeries may hinder labral healing and have limited benefit. BMAC shows promise, particularly for patients with cartilage damage, improving outcomes in hip arthroscopy. PRP lacks strong support for FAI but is effective for mild to moderate osteoarthritis, providing pain relief lasting around six weeks. HA alone is generally ineffective, and combined HA and PRP injections don't outperform PRP alone. PRP also effectively treats gluteal and hamstring tendon issues.
