Video Summary
Brad Bushnell, chairman of orthopedics at Harbin Clinic, presented a multicenter study evaluating a resorbable bio-inductive bovine collagen implant for partial thickness rotator cuff tears. The study included 227 patients, comparing isolated bio-inductive repair (IBR) using the implant alone versus traditional takedown and repair plus implant. Results showed significant pain reduction and improved function by one year, with IBR yielding better early outcomes but comparable long-term results. Prior shoulder surgery negatively impacted results, while biceps procedures showed no effect. Less than 5% required additional surgery, mostly for inflammation. The implant is safe, effective, and under further randomized investigation.
