Video Summary
Sam Rao presented research on return to play rates in adolescent baseball players following SLAP (superior labrum anterior to posterior) repair. In a cohort of 45 male baseball athletes (mean age 15.8), 75.6% returned to play after surgery, with no difference between pitchers and position players. Time to return to throwing averaged 6 months, and return to play 11.3 months. About one-third progressed to higher levels, mainly from high school to college; none reached professional play. Patient-reported outcomes were moderate, but satisfaction was high (83%). Limitations included retrospective design and lack of performance metrics. Overall, results align with existing literature, showing good return rates in adolescents.
