The IT band method, despite being deemed non-anatomic, shows excellent functional outcomes and low complications. All-epiphyseal techniques offer anatomic advantages but higher growth disturbance risk and limited age applicability. The PLUTO multicenter study shows similar retear rates across techniques, with lower complications for IT band surgery.
