Video Summary
This study examined elite athletes undergoing primary ACL reconstruction, a high-risk group due to intense physical demands. Adding a modified Lemaire lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) significantly reduced re-rupture rates from about 9% to 3.4%. Benefits were seen with both hamstring and patellar tendon grafts, though individual significance wasn’t reached. The retrospective review included 456 elite athletes, mostly soccer and rugby players. While results highlight LET’s effectiveness in elite athletes, the authors caution that findings may not apply to all patients and emphasize the need for further research to refine indications for LET in ACL surgery.
